Grouting

Sealed Path provides specialty grouting services for all areas and industries that require grouting (such as dams, mines, surface and underground structures, oilfield wellbores etc.)  Examples include:

  • Water inflow reduction
  • Shaft and tunnel pre-excavation
  • Soil stabilization
  • Civil structure support
  • Waste material isolation/encapsulation
  • Zonal isolation

Different grouts are more suited than others depending on the geological, pressure/flow, environmental and rock/soil conditions. Combined with economics, supply, equipment, longevity requirements, and safety/ environmental considerations, Sealed Path will design and recommend a grout, or grouts for use tailored to each individual project.

Grouts we have experience with include:

  • Cement/Ultrafine, including:
    • Saturated brine based
    • High pressure fluid loss additives
    • Anti-washout
    • Non-shrink
    • Many different cementitious materials, pozzolans, additives and admixtures
  • Precipitate grouts
    • Given the right chemistry, solids are precipitated when the grout mixes with the ground water
  • Acrylamide, acrylate and polyacrylamide gels
  • Polyurethane
  • Epoxy
  • Emulsion grouts
  • Thermal grouts
    • Hot bitumen
    • Wax
  • Sodium silicate
  • Colloidal silica
  • Combination grouts
    • For optimal and specific engineered grout properties
  • Multiple other specialty polymers

The selected grout is only one critical component of a successful grout design. We will also provide consulting services and onsite management in relation to:

  • Batch plants/equipment
  • Hole drilling/prep
  • Injection plans, procedures and recommendations
  • Grout quality control
  • Tracer options
  • Acidizing (and safe acid alternatives)
    • To enhance grout penetration and sealing
  • Injection monitoring systems
  • Results reporting and documentation
  • Measurements of success

Brine/Salt

Through the experience of many years of continued research, testing and design of grout injections in brine/salt, Sealed Path is also able to provide specialized expertise in this area.  Many grouts, additives and various chemicals used in grouting have adverse effects when encountering or mixing with brine/salt.  Additionally, different chemistries and concentrations of salt also play a critical role in grout performance, compatibility and design requirements.  Whether the insitu brine, or the grout's mix fluid ranges from brackish, to sea water, to fully saturated in salt, a proper grout material, formula and procedure can be designed for your needs.
